Leaders of the powerful National League East and owners of an 18-15 record, the New York Mets roll into Fog City for a four game tilt with the Giants over the weekend. Thursday nights’ game pits Jonathan Sanchez versus John Maine in the first game of what should be a tremendous series.

If nothing else, four games with the Mets will go a long way in deciding if the Giants are to be a contender or pretender this season. New York features a plethora of household names including outfielders Gary Sheffield and Carlos Beltran, shortstop Jose Reyes and currently injured first baseman Carlos Delgado. On the mound the Mets boast a list of high price hurlers such as Francisco “KRod” Rodriguez and Johan Santana.

San Francisco has been a smashing success at home this season, winning 12 of 17. Let’s hope Jonathan Sanchez can shake off the ill effects of last weeks’ 8 nothing loss down in LA last week. Navigating through New York’s lineup provides virtually zero room for error. Should be interesting…
