Giants tie it in 8th… lose it in 9th

The Mets’ 3 bagger breaks a 4-4 tie with a ninth inning single.

A hobbled New York Mets squad, without the services of JJ Putz, Carlos Delgado and Jose Reyes, were able to rally for three runs in the ninth to beat the Giants 7-4. The Giants conceded a whopping seven stolen bases on the night, four of which went to the not-exactly-fast David Wright. Wright proved to be the hero not only on the basepaths, but also at the plate where he was a perfect 3 for 3 on the evening.

The Mets have now won 6 in a row over the Giants. However, Bruce Bochy can find solace in the fact that Timmy Lincecum will be toeing the rubber tonight in game two.
Also of note, Gary Sheffield recording two hits last night. Amazin’ what a few pregame performance enhancing cocktails at Balco’s Café can do for a guy his age.
